Paralegal
About the Position:
The Paralegal will work in the Legal department handling various projects and functions for RMS. They will work closely with the General Counsel along with the extended Family Office team and clients on a regular basis. The Paralegal will support the Legal Department by drafting contracts, notices, statutory and financial forms, as well as managing business filings and fiduciary processes. Presents information effectively to the Legal Department and to clients. Responds timely to internal office requests, as well as to external inquiries. Resolves routine legal questions under the direction of the General Counsel, and creates efficiencies in corporate, trust and foundation administration. Additional responsibilities may be included in order to respond to a changing environment and the Family Office’s needs.
Paralegal Essential Job Functions:
- Initial drafting of promissory notes, Crummey letters, related gift documentation, and conflict of interest questionnaires for clients.
- Managing the formation, maintain annual reports and dissolution different business/nonprofit entities.
- Project management, including annual trust audits, private foundation audits, gift audits.
- Estate planning and administration duties, including form preparation, correspondence, document management, scheduling, and execution.
- Investment legal functions, including subscription document review and compilation.
- Private trust company legal functions identified through the formation of the PTC.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required in business-related field.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience as a paralegal, project coordinator, or document review specialist working in a highly confidential and high traffic environment.
- Relevant experience in a law firm or trust department preferred.
- Paralegal certificate preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Software (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Notary License preferred.
- Familiarity with trust and estate planning.
- General comfort with learning new programs and software.
- Experience creating scalable processes and workflows is needed.Skills:

Work Environment:
The Paralegal will occasionally work weekends and/or non-regular working hours, with limited travel involved. The position will be based out of our Van Aken Offices in Shaker Heights.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
