Patient Care Technician - 14 South Medical Surgical -Full time - Days

Accurately measure and record patient vital signs including body temperature, pulse respiration, and blood pressure. Report abnormal findings, put patients at ease and be the eyes and ears of our award-winning nursing team. Collaborate with a team of nurses to earn your reputation every day and Put Patients First.

Performs routine patient care procedures, e.g., fingerstick for glucometer testing, venipuncture, EKG, oral cavity suctioning, daily hygiene, enemas, sitz baths, collection of selected specimens, warm moist and cold packs and universal precautions, providing they have demonstrated competency in performing the procedure and are directed to do so by a nurse who has assessed the patient. Measures and records temperatures, respiration, pulses, blood pressure, heights, weights and intake and output, and specific parameters assigned by department.

This a full time day flex position. Includes rotating weekends and holidays

Required Criteria

• Minimum one year of experience as a Nurse Aide
• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical functions
• Complete in-house training program approved by New York Weill Cornell Division of Nursing
• Demonstrates ability to communicate with staff, patients and visitors
• EKG and Phlebotomy Cert
• A high school diploma is required, along with completion of an approved phlebotomy program and a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
