PRMO Established in 2001, Patient Revenue Management Organization (PRMO) is a fully integrated, centralized revenue cycle organization supporting all of Duke Health, including Duke University Hospital, Duke Regional Hospital, Duke Raleigh Hospital, the Private Diagnostic Clinic, and Duke Primary Care. The PRMO focuses on streamlining the revenue cycle through enhanced management of scheduling, registration, coding, HIM operations, billing, collections, cash management, and customer service. This position will be expected to float between the three Children's Primary Care Sites: Duke Children's Primary Care Brier Creek, Duke Children's Primary Care South Durham, and Duke Children's Primary Care North Durham.


Occ Summary

Coordinate andparticipate in a variety of duties associated with daily clinic prepa ration process, patient identification, patientcheck-in/out, chargepos ting, cash management and patient appointment scheduling. Position also involves customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling an dpreparation and referrals management.


Work Performed

Prepare for clinic visits by reviewingnext day patients andcompleting n ext day preparation activities. Enterpre-visit orders andprepare new pat ient charts. Pick up X-rays, office charts, medicalrecords, reports, pet ty cash and collections bag. File history sheets,ancillary reports and a ll other required patient record documentation.Return medical records. A ttach HIPPA/Medicare documents to theencounter forms.Check-in patient up on arrival in the practice. Identifycorrect patientinformation in Maest ro Care. Verify patient demographicdata. EditMaestro Care as needed. Acc urately identify the appropriate accountfor patient visit. Present and e ducate patients on required forms andobtain signature as required by pol icy and procedure. Completes allMaestro Care check-in files and manage a ll appropriate alerts. Collectand post co-payments and balances on accou nts due. Imprint all patientspecific chart documents and requisition/tra nsmittal documents. Copy,file and distribute insurance cardsas indicated by procedure.Coordinate all labs/procedures as requested. Maintain priva te physicianoffice charts.Prepareencounter forms. Investigate and accoun t for missing encounterforms. Audit encounter forms for completeness and accuracy beforebatching. Batches encounter forms or charge posting inMa estro Care.Schedule tests and procedures. Complete and distributeancilla ryservice requisitions.Explainbilling to patientsaccording to PRMO cred it and collection policies. Determine the amountof cash to be collected based on insuranceplan.Check-outpatients. Make return appointments bysc heduling patients into thecorrect appointment type, entering the primary care physician orreferring physician and scheduling tests and procedure s.Answer telephone, take anddeliver messages to physicians, nurses andot hers. Report obtained medical information from patients and referringphy sicians accurately, completely and timely. Disseminate messagesaccording to practice communication standards

Strong verbal and written communication. Basic PC and d ata entryskills. Knowledge of medical terminology and telephone etiquett e.Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work, provide oralandw ritten instructions, interact tactfully with customers and establishand maintain effective relationships with others. Must be able to applyspeci fic departmental policies rules and regulations relating toverifyingpati ent information, collecting payments and maintainingrecords and forms.
