Suttons Bay Public School is hiring a full-time certified 6-12 PE Teacher and Athletic Director. This person should be a student centered problem solver with a strong desire to create a positive and joyful learning environment and athletic programing for all students. Candidates must have experience in establishing meaningful relationships and developing a positive rapport with their students, parents and other staff members. Our ideal candidate is also a fiercely resilient educator that finds innovative ways to motivate students to engage with the school community. This person would also have experience within an athletic program including coaching varsity level sports, working with other coaches and athletes, support staff, and conducting events.

Athletic Director Job Description

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution.
• Valid and current teaching certificate from the State of Michigan with a K-12 PE Endorsement, preferably with a Health Endorsement as well.
• Certifications and qualifications necessary to teach the curricular area(s) pursued.
• Experience in working in and leading athletic programs through MHSAA.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Teaching CCSS/Michigan grade level content using SBPS-provided curriculum.
• Providing an engaging learning environment that facilitates a high level of student involvement and achievement.
• Effective communication with students, staff, administration, parents and community members.
• Strong technology literacy and data collection methods.
• Professional appearance and regular attendance at school sponsored events and activities.
• Keen awareness of responsibilities for confidentiality and professionalism.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of highly effective classroom management strategies and instructional practices as well as the ability to implement those concepts in a classroom setting.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• The ability to multitask and work as a team.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

Terms of Employment

• Full-time (1.0 FTE) salary and health benefits provided per the SBEA Contract.
