With patient care as our goal, our pharmacy team provides a flexible, tailored and professional approach to healthcare service delivery. This position involves direct oversight and management of pharmacy buying and inventory, oversight of the clinical prior authorization assistance program, generation of monthly and quarterly reports and supervision of pharmacy clinical services which include: the patient management program, accreditations, performance improvement and quality management committees.

Job Scope and Responsibilities:

-Oversee pharmacy buying and inventory management: monitor drug pricing fluctuations in the market, anticipate and navigate drug shortages, maintain current pharmacy inventory at sites conduct on-site inspections when appropriate and maintain an ongoing list of most cost-effective purchasing prices.

-Oversee clinical prior authorization assistance program: insurance verification, ensure accurate, complete and timely requests for prior authorization forms and completion of required information

-Prepare quarterly reports pertaining to clinical data requested by accreditation and/or contract requirements (i.e. patient satisfaction surveys, call answer and abandonment rates, refills rates etc.)

-Prepare and maintain all tasks necessary to sustain URAC, ACHC and potential future pharmacy accreditations: To include submission of documents, staff training, assesses compliance within the organization, communicate with accrediting organizations, update and develop policy and procedures as needed

-Oversee Patient Management Programs (PMP): Activities of PMP include but are not limited to: prior authorization assistance, counseling services, patient outreach, patient educational materials and maintenance of patient profiles

-Oversee the Performance Improvement Committee: With the focus on providing a structured framework, to guide the organization in designing effective processes for the safe delivery of quality patient care/services and optimal facility operations

-Oversee the Quality Management Committee: Assist in the development and maintenance of current and future quality improvement initiatives. Work with the committee to identify, develop and/or enhance activities that promote member safety and encourage a reduction in medical errors

-Develop and maintain organizational policies and procedures as needed to remain in compliance. Develops, implements, oversees and assesses new policy and procedures within the pharmacy organization.

-Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to enhance patient safety and ensure that medicine management practices are safe and effective

-Monitor compliance with standards established by regulatory and accrediting bodies such as the State Board of Pharmacy, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) & URAC.

Qualifications and Skills:

-Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or PharmD required

-NJ Pharmacist License (Required)

-Experience in healthcare regulatory and auditing activities

-Demonstrated organization, facilitation, communication and presentation skills

-Ability to work independently in a matrix environment
