The PM&R physicians at Gillette see patients regarding their physical medicine and rehabilitation/ functional needs in a highly accessible clinical setting equipped with lifts and clinic rooms sized and equipped appropriately for individuals with disabilities. Within a very accessible clinic, patients with disabilities can be seen for their needs in a way that primary care is typically unable to do so.

This PM&R physician partners with patients’ primary care physicians (PCPs) in the community, who are not disability specialists, and relays information back to the PCP to address general medical needs and direct preventive care. This physician position works collaboratively with neuromuscular neurology providers, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, and nurse practitioners who are experts in skin care, ITB pumps, bladder management, and bowel management. The PM&R provider also works with endocrinology, neuromuscular cardiology, and pulmonology services to address patient needs, as well as nursing, social work, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychology, therapeutic recreation, assistive technology, seating services, and other specialist physicians. The physician prescribes needed equipment such as braces and wheelchairs.
