Purpose: The Planer Millwright is a critical member of a dynamic maintenance team that strives for a safe and cooperative work environment that allows for optimum production levels of high-quality lumber. The Planer Millwright is an integral member of the Stratton Lumber safety team and will always cooperate with safety protocols, while reporting conditions that may be of concern.

Position Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Position is Full-Time, Year-Round

Rotating Shifts

Responsibilities

· Arrive to work on-time for scheduled shifts, ready to work in a safe and cooperative manner.

· Participate in daily meetings and report any safety or production concerns to Manager

· Proficient in all elements of Planer Set-up

· Maintain parts inventory for the planer machine, feed table, and bridge table

· Performs repairs to the planer with minimal assistance from maintenance

· Proficient in planer machine alignment

· Long Guide alignment

· Bottom rolls alignment

· Top rolls alignment

· Bed plate alignment

· Receiving plate alignment

· Pressure plate alignment

· Cutting head level

· Feed table alignment through the bridge

· Basic understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting

· Unscheduled down time events- Set-up person has the capabilities to complete repairs on other planer mill equipment as required. Priority is ensuring planer machine/ feed table/ bridge table performance.

· Observe and follow all safety protocols at all times

Requirements

· Proven reliability

· Grinding and setting knives, installing heads, dimensional adjustments and monitoring wood quality.

· Saw changes, preventative maintenance

· Understanding of hydraulics, welding, metal fabrication, pneumatic systems

· Ability to read and understand technical drawings

· Properly identify and request machine replacement parts

· Positive attitude and strong work ethic

· Desire to safely work to enhance production processes

· Ability to follow established procedures and practices

· A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines

· Very good communication skills

· Physically able to lift up to 80 lbs, twist, reach and bend.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
