Canton Community Nursery School has been a community staple for over 50 years, offering play-based, relationship-focused curriculum to children ages 3-5. The school is currently accepting applications for a teacher in their program. We are a part time program that meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings following the public school academic calendar. Assist in planning curriculum, guiding play-based learning experiences, conducting assessments, and receive assistance and mentoring for professional development. Some experience with young children required.

Start date: Late August 203

Hours:

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
  • Days off matching the public school calendar
  • Some special events, if your schedule allows

Requirements:

  • 18+ years old.
  • Possess or working towards an Associate Degree or higher in ECE or CD or hold a CDA certificate, or other degree in a comparable field.
  • Maintain professional development hours (CEU’s) yearly. CEU’s required must equal 1% of hours worked yearly. The cost will be covered by the Nursery School.
  • Free from arrests and convictions.
  • Possess or willing to be trained in Red Cross Certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Demonstrate a genuine affection for and interest in young children.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to curriciulum design and monthly themes.
  • Engage with children throughout the morning, and work with children at an individual and small group level.
  • Support children's play and social interactions with each other.
  • Assist in the preparation of material to enhance art experiences.
  • Supervise the safe arrival and departure of all students.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness and safety of the classroom.
  • Assist in daily set-up and clean-up.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Early Childhood Education: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
  • Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
