This individual will play an important role in the digital organization, as he/she will lead product management activities for condition monitoring products and solutions along with developing, defining and managing the product roadmap. Supporting the development of new products to ensure achievement of company growth and profitability objectives. Leading several new products which are being developed and may require special attention, or product lines that are more technically complex or strategically important to the company. Coordinates efforts with various functions including Sales, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, Finance and Human Resources.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Providing techincal direction and support in devlopment of JC digital products and complimentry services.
- Driving New Product Development programs which are aligned with the overall JC Digital hardware and software teams.
- Assess customer needs and business opportunities for digital products, paritculary condition monitoring products
- Contribute to the design/development of and continously improve service for delivery in line with Smiths Excellence System. Including delivery plans for digital condition monitoring Sense products
- Maintain high quality customer relationships – at times, this role will also include customer-facing meetings and highly developed interpersonal skills are essential.
- Support Business Development on technical aspect of sales presentations, trade shows, Voice of Customer
- Assist in developing sales enablement program for condition monitor product line
- Support and drive the use of data to inform strategy on reliability and maintenance as well as internal business development
- Formulate product enhancement procedures for development of marketable products.
- Initiate and direct the completion of action plans to enhance existing products or develop new products. Monitor progress on each plan to ensure successful and timely completion.
- Establish practices for the gathering and use of market information by product line, including competitive analysis, market share, and market size.
- Prepare annual and five-year product business plan including objectives, action plans, and budgets.
- Conduct technical and commercial presentations for management level customers on aspects of the Company’s products.
- Establish a procedure for cataloging the company’s products ensuring proper documentation and retrieval of information.
- Prepare comprehensive customer quotations, when necessary, complete with commercial, technical, and policy aspects. Manage provision of prototypes for customer qualification testing and or internal lab testing.
- Maintain customer relations through direct handling of requests, problems, data, and proposals as well as participation in seminars and conventions.

The Individual
- A degree in Marketing or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 8 years of engineering and/or marketing experience and supervisory background sufficient to assume product management responsibilities
- Experience in customer-facing roles, preferred
- Vibration analysis experience, preferred.
- Previous experience in pump maintenance and reliability, preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfortable with a range of software.
- Understanding of basic statistics and data analysis
- Travel up to 20% to customer sites, tradeshows, industry conferences to conduct VOC, implement new programs and support existing ones.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to sit for extend periods of time; a minimum of 2 hours.
- Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the office, shop, warehouse, or manufacturing plant
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and carry up to 10 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items while working at assigned desk area.
- Must have the manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment.
- Must be able to simultaneously manage several objectives, changing priorities and reassign priorities to complete assignments.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment is typically considered within a Smiths location during normal or extended business hours to include offices, manufacturing plants and repair facilities. Work environment may also include customer sites including oil well sites, and meeting venues.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and approved PPE is required when on the factory floor
