Project Engineering Specialist - System Drives

Working as a Project Engineer, you will be the support person for various System Drives within Motion Business in Houston Texas in, providing technical details, costs and deliverables for sales proposals. In this role, you will make technical recommendations in various phases of customer projects to ensure successful delivery of project deliverables on time, within budget and in line with quality and safety guidelines.Technical lead for all engineering activities in executing E-Houses and Enclosures for Powertrain Packages. Ensure that activities related to all engineering disciplines within the project are efficiently and cost effectively executed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.

Your responsibilities
- Technical contribution: Engineering development: As a technical lead for all Engineering disciplines - evaluates, selects and applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features. Executes assignments using established solutions. Review and approve Structural, Mechanical and Electrical design. Validate that supplier will meet the state certification requirement. Create and manage technical documentation
- Authorization: May act as a design authority for a particular engineering discipline and complete engineering assignments for that discipline
- Construction and integration support: Collaborates on E-House integration, project installation, commissioning =and site activities, clarifying potential issues or providing solutions to correct engineering errors. Offers technical support for commissioning and start up activities
- After sales support: Support commissioning team and customer for any technical clarifications. Requires travel to site
- Contract management: Supports Contract Managers in issuing claims (new scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications etc.)
- Planning and control: Creating work plans and cost estimates for work in own area of responsibility and proactively manages this work to deliver the agreed program on time, on quality and at the targeted cost
- Risk and opportunity management: Evaluates risks and opportunities, strategizes mitigation of one’s engineering projects/programs. Supports the Project Manager in overall project risk and opportunity assessments and implementation of resulting actions. Identifies opportunities for repeating and new businesses
- Supply chain management: Oversees the creation of subcontracts and manages subcontractors jointly with other involved functions, including supply chain management.
- Technical leadership and knowledge sharing: Collaborates and networks with engineering colleagues within ABB. Shares best practice across different projects and disciplines.
- Processes and tools: Utilizes standard processes, tools, and techniques. Ensures that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements
- People leadership and development: Leads, supervises, and coordinates teams in all engineering disciplines (both in house and outsourced)
Your background
- Bachelor degree with 8 years of work experience OR Associate degree with 10 years of work experience OR High school diploma and 12 years of work experience required
- Travel up to 50% required
- Professional experience in an engineering role with structural, mechanical and electrical systems in E houses highly preferred
- Experience with State Certification process, national and/or local codes and regulations highly preferred
- Experience with CAD software, such as AutoCAD Electrical highly preferred
- Experience in managing multiple projects of scope and scale simultaneously highly preferred
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
