Diagnostic evaluations are the cornerstone of the Psychological Services Department at Caravel Autism Health. The Psychometrician plays a vital role in the evaluation process by directly administering psychological assessments to clients, scoring those assessments, and summarizing the results for the psychologist to analyze and interpret.
Essential Functions:

  • Ensures that clients are seen in a timely manner.
  • Follows all ethical guidelines and adheres to all clinical standards including HIPAA, APA guidelines, etc.
  • Provides input and direction on policies and procedures regarding testing and assessments
  • Supports our Mission of changing lives and adheres to our core values of: advocacy, clinical commitment, operational excellence, passion, professional development, and teamwork.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is a requirement of this position.
  • Expectations are for employee to work on average 40 hours per week or more in completing duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Reviews information for timeliness, accuracy, availability, and security.

Diagnostic Assessments:

  • Completes diagnostic evaluations by administering and scoring psychological tests (i.e., ADOS-2, Bayley-4, WISC-V, WPPSI-IV, PLS-5, CELF-5, BASC-3, and Vineland-3), summarizing results in written form, and reporting on behavioral observations.
  • Close collaboration with the psychologist.
  • Test summary reports are completed within guidelines and according to policy.

Supervisory Responsibility: Not applicable.
Travel Required: Frequent travel to clinic locations throughout the region served and rare travel to client homes, with use of personal vehicle required (mileage reimbursed).
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to a client who exhibits physically aggressive behavior which can include kicking, pinching, punching, biting, etc. The employee may have to use appropriate behavior management techniques frequently with a client under such circumstances. Such response requires agility, quick reflexes, and the ability to use physically evasive movement. The employee will be constantly required to stand, walk, sit, grasp, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, squat, hear, type and write. In addition, the employee will be exposed to normal office conditions and usual office equipment such as phone, computer, printers, copiers, files, etc. The employee must be able to independently and repeatedly lift, move, and carry objects weighing up to thirty-five (35) lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near, far, and field of vision. Speech must be spoken in a way in which others will understand. This position requires regular and punctual employee presence.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology (or related field) required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Completed graduate level coursework in tests and measurement and cognitive assessment required.
  • Experience administering and scoring the those tests listed in #8 above (especially ADOS-2) strongly preferred.
  • Certified Specialist in Psychometry (CSP) designation is preferred.
  • At least one year previous experience as a Psychometrist preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computing equipment for the purposes of test scoring, report writing, and communication (i.e., email and electronic health record).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Natural ability to interact with children. **Skilled in carefully observing children and young people and respond to what they might be communicating through their behavior and play.
  • Critical thinking skills, with strong analytical abilities.
  • Self-motivated, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Works cohesively within a team environment.
  • Strong client centered focus, with the desire to meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and abide by ethical guidelines and policies, including compliance with HIPAA laws and regulations.
  • Maintains professional boundaries with clients and their families, representing organization in a professional manner.
  • Strong work ethic, with the ability to meet scheduling commitments
