NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs


If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range

$75,900 - $146,200

  • Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate¿s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like


The Nuclear Deterrence Transformation team is seeking an innovative and highly motivated Quality Assurance Specialist to join the Nuclear Deterrence Transformation (NDT) team. This role will be responsible for supporting the development of meaningful improvements for ND product realization and quality management system processes. This includes working closely with NDT technical leads, ND governance, Systems and component teams to advance ND’s technical processes, tools and design guides to enable consistent program execution across the ND portfolio. Additionally, this role will support Deputy Lab Director initiatives to address foundational challenges that affect ND programs.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Team with ND leadership and other technical staff across the laboratory to develop and implement improvements that set strategic direction for Sandia's ND mission execution and delivery
  • Initiate, design, and evaluate ND processes, tools and guidance in alignment with federal requirements and industry standards
  • Assesses processes and systems and conducts risk analysis, root cause analysis, corrective or preventive actions, lessons learned, and benchmarking
  • Engage and team with numerous groups across Sandia (ND governance and leadership, Systems and components) as well as external agencies (e.g Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC), Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), etc.)
  • Contribute to and/or present status updates to ND Governance, Sandia Executive Leadership, NNSA and congressional staffers

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor's degree plus 5 or more years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education/experience.
  • Experience working in the ND mission space and or familiarity with the ND product realization process
  • Ability to acquire a US DOE Q-level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire

  • Product Realization Team experience within weapon system or component team
  • Knowledge and experience with the Realize Product Subsystem process, including Realize Product Procedures (RPPs), Business Management Processes (BMPs), and Weapon Quality Criteria
  • Experience working across the NNSA Nuclear Weapons Complex including SNL systems and/or component organizations, Kansas City Plant (KCNSC), Pantex (PX) or Sandia External Production (SEP)
  • Detail-oriented and demonstrated ability to work successfully with a wide-variety of people to accomplish objectives
  • Strong teamwork skills, combined with an ability to take broad direction and implement technical activities without detailed guidance or supervision
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new skills and develop solutions based on project needs
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
  • Strong interpersonal skills in developing trust-based relationships among peers, partners, and customers
  • An active DOE Q-level security clearance; or other equivalent active security clearance such as DOD Top Secret

Security Clearance
