Position Summary

First Shift - M – F with some flexibility to scheduled start/end times.

Work Location - Red Wing Minnesota

  • This is a high mix, low volume environment The focus is high quality premium products, and compliance to written standards.

The Quality Inspectors report to the Quality Manager. The Quality Inspector /CMM Programmer is part of a workgroup that will include other Inspection and QMS related functions. The CMM Programmer will be the team’s leader in knowledge and understanding of inspection methods and equipment. This role will have opportunities for specific training to operate CRL inspection equipment. Bring your expertise to our team to help us expand our capabilities and build an exciting future.

The Quality Inspector /CMM Programmer is responsible for supporting the Company’s quality initiatives by performing visual and dimensional inspections and creating CMM inspection programs. In addition, one must perform documentation reviews to ensure product compliance with quality standards in the following areas:

  • Receiving inspection
  • Testing results
  • In-process spot inspection on parts,
  • Inspection for final acceptance (pre-shipment).
  • Complete First articles from suppliers and from shop floor.

Key Job Functions included but not limited to:

  • Programming of Hexagon CMM using PC DIMIS software and Renishaw touch probes and also use of Keyence Vision System.
  • Receiving Inspection: Process incoming receiving inspection using dimensional, visual, and document reviews for compliance to CRL prints.
  • In-process Inspection: Complete daily in-process inspections.
  • Final Inspection: Complete daily final inspections on product ready for shipment
  • Shop Support: Support shop personnel as requested with inspection activities
  • Communication: Communicate to others within the company on a daily basis using verbal and written communications. CRL utilizes standard Microsoft Office products
  • Quality Improvement: Work with CRL machinists, assemblers, and vendors to improve product quality.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness of work areas

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of CMM programming for manufacturing environment and machined parts.
  • Familiar with using vision systems for parts measuring.
  • Familiar with manufacturing operations, processes and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints
  • Strong knowledge of geometric dimensional tolerance and CAD imports to CMM
  • Strong Knowledge of measuring instruments (caliper, micrometer, etc )
  • Familiarity of ASTM Material Reports for raw materials – Steels and Castings, Polymers
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to become a certified forklift driver
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to pass near vision acuity test to 20/30 Corrective lenses allowed.
  • Ability to pass color vision test

Experience:

  • Previous CMM programming experience
  • Previous parts inspection experience matching to blueprint specifications.
  • At least two years of experience working in a manufacturing environment required.

Education and Certification Qualifications

  • High School Degree

Working Environment

  • Standing, sitting, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting (50lbs) .
  • Air controlled environment.
  • Assigned Desk, Computer, Phone
  • Safety Glasses and Steel Toe footwear required. (reimbursement provided by company)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $29.00 per hour
