R20058 Temp R&D Specialist

Pay Range: Min $36 - Max $55

We are seeking an R&D Specialist to join our VelociGene Genotyping group. The genotyping group is dedicated to genotyping all the genetically modified animal models studied at Regeneron. We employ, and continue to implement and optimize, extensive automation in our laboratory and data analysis workflows, which enables us to process the very high sample throughput required to genotype every mouse generated at Regeneron. We hope you are excited by the opportunity to utilize the power of mouse genetics to unlock the function of each gene in the genome.

As a R&D Specialist, a typical day might include the following:

  • Following robotic methods for genotyping animal disease models using techniques such as Southern blotting (using radioactive isotope 32-P) and by TaqMan qPCR.

  • Identifying and troubleshooting routine genotyping related problems and/or optimizing processes.

  • Routinely summarizing and interpreting data, and recognizing anomalous results.

  • Multi-tasking across assignments and operating optimally in the face of ambiguity and change.

  • Maintaining accurate electronic records and excellent time management of daily tasks.

  • Communicating progress updates for each project in a clear and concise manner with key stakeholders.

  • Organizing and compiling results into a finished format for presentation.

This role might be for you if:

  • You maintain scientific curiosity and familiarity with current advances in transgenic and genome engineering technologies and apply such knowledge toward development of new or improved technologies.

  • You can learn new methods and demonstrate flexibility to changing priorities.

  • You possess a strong work ethic and exquisite attention to detail.

  • You maintain strong records of experimental work.

  • You thrive in a collaborative team environment and have strong communication skills.

To be considered for this role,
you must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, or related biological sciences with a minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience. We need someone with a good understanding of mammalian genetics, genome engineering, and hands-on knowledge of genotyping by Southern Blotting. Must be willing to work with radioisotopes Phosphorous-32 (32P). Basic understanding of bioinformatics methods, such as DNA sequence analysis and comparison, database searching, vector construction and primer design is preferred. Strong digital literacy (ex Microsoft Office) and database management is a must.

This is a contract position at Regeneron with Magnit Global being the Employer.

To do our best work we need different viewpoints. Therefore, we celebrate diversity and embrace inclusion. As an equal opportunity employer, we are dedicated to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We strive to ensure that we maintain a positive and enriching work environment for all.
