This is an exciting role in the Jack Henry Payments division that’s geared towards building critical back-end integrations between Jack Henry products and the core systems of our customers for an optimized banking experience. We’re seeking a strong advocate of Agile software development as the means for delivering high-quality solutions and thrives in a culture of continuous learning.

This role is embedded within an agile software development team and provides expertise and support regarding integrations to a variety of systems. This is a high-impact position that enhances our ability to quickly onboard new financial institution customers, making a direct contribution to the bottom line.
Our team is distributed, which means you can live and work anywhere within the U.S. You will need to work standard Eastern Time business hours for optimal collaboration with team members. You will get the chance to continuously find and execute on improvements that heighten efficiencies of your tasks while leveraging the newest technologies available to do so.
This position will be filled to work at the following Jack Henry office locations: Elizabethtown, KY, Louisville, KY, or Remotely within the U.S.
What you’ll be responsible for:
Create highly-available, highly-scalable micro-services to back-end systems with sophisticated queuing middleware and data pipelines – all on the cloud.- Commit to doing whatever it takes to ensure quality product delivery including test case reviews, test case writing, manual testing, unit testing, performance testing and test automation, as needed.
- Work in an Agile environment using modern methodologies and open-source tools.
- Work and collaborate with both business and technical teams who love to solve real problems.
- Be a key team member and add direct value to a growing organization.
- Follow and advocate for our coding and testing standards to help drive quality.
- Continuously learn back-end development as the technology rapidly evolves.
- Pair/mob program with agile team members to support back-end development.
- Collaborate with DevOps team to ensure new integrations can go live.
- Create appropriate technical documentation.
- May perform other job duties as assigned.
What you’ll need to have:
A minimum of 4 years of experience in back-end development.- Proficiency in back-end languages (Ruby, Python, and/or Go).
- Proficiency in consuming and integrating to API’s (SOAP, REST, JSON, XML).
- Working knowledge in writing new API’s and contracts.
- Experience and working knowledge with databases (SQL, MySQL, etc.).
- Ability to work standard Eastern Time zone business hours.
- Ability to travel up to 2% to attend JH meetings, trainings, and/or professional conferences.
What would be nice for you to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science.- Experience in Agile/Scrum software development.
- Experience with developing cloud-based web applications (preferably with AWS).
- Experience testing your back-end code (using RSpec, etc.).
- Experience with containers (Docker/Kubernetes, Heroku).
- Experience with event-driven architecture.
- Experience writing gems/libraries.
- Experience with BitBucket (or like tool) for source code management and version control.
- Experience in payments/financial industry.
