Job description

We are currently seeking Paraprofessionals (PCAs) for full-time, permanent placement positions working one on one with students with special needs in the Hainesport, NJ area. The paraprofessionals will function as educational, emotional, and/or behavioral support for the student throughout their school day. The daily schedule will be Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-3:15 pm. Eligible candidates must have a high school diploma although college credits from an accredited college or university and knowledge of child growth and development.

  • Actively participate in ongoing quality improvement activities of the Agency including but not limited to: serving as a member of a quality improvement team, customer input, incident/accident, client grievance review, per record review, and program evaluation/quality improvement projects
  • Maintain classroom attendance, class notes, and daily point sheets along with performing other record-keeping functions designated by the classroom teacher
  • Maintain structure and discipline in the alternative classroom setting
  • Assist with management and supervision of students in non-instructional settings
  • Utilize the Agency learning center model of instruction under the guidance of the classroom teacher to reinforce small group and individual academic activities with students
  • Participate and assist with large group activities, treatment team meetings, field trips, athletic events, and special school-wide activities
  • Assist classroom and in-school suspension teachers in maintaining a neat, clean, orderly academic environment, and fully securing the assigned classroom at the end of the school day
  • Individually guide students with independent enrichment and remedial work as assigned by the classroom teacher
  • Supervise, escort, and provide assistance to students traveling from one location to another location on the school campus including arrival, dismissal, and class changes.


Qualifications/Education:

  • High School Diploma is the minimum qualification needed.
  • A degree from an accredited college or university and a valid substitute certificate are preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of child growth and development.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and appropriate classroom practices that support the successful implementation of the assigned student’s IEPs.
  • The ability to demonstrate required proficiencies in the curricular areas identified in the appropriate grade level New Jersey Core Content Standards.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • A valid New Jersey Driver’s License with a documented history of safe driving.
  • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. Citizenship or legal resident alien status
