YOU NEED SPECIFIC SECURITY EXPERIENCE OR A CRIMINAL JUSTICE DEGREE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION. One of the first questions you will be asked is to describe your skills, experience, education, and/or training that qualifies you for this position. THEREFORE RECENT SECURITY TRAINING/EXPERIENCE OR A CRIMINAL JUSTICE DEGREE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION.

As a Juvenile Corrections Officer, you would be responsible for the care, custody, and correction of the behavior of detained male youth in a safe, secure, and clean environment for the rehabilitation of our youth.

Your specific duties include observing and supervising the activities of young males in their housing units, classrooms, dining area, and recreational activities while always maintaining control in a secured area.

Enforce relevant rules, regulations, and state laws necessary to maintain control of juveniles and public safety. Escort juveniles to designated locations inside/outside the facility & during temporary leaves. Guard facility entrances while screening visitors. Maintain key logs, tools, and related equipment. Patrol assigned areas and report any problems. Prepare facility reports.

Work Schedule:

JCOs work a 12-hour shift on a rotating schedule, a combination of days, nights, overnights, AND weekends. The pay is $37,730 annually Plus overtime.

Requirements:

Must have a high school diploma or GED, and/or some college, or a college degree. MUST HAVE SECURITY EXPERIENCE OR A DEGREE IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE. Must be a US citizen with a VALID GEORGIA driver’s license (No state IDs). NO FELONY CONVICTIONS on your criminal background check, successfully pass a pre-employment physical/drug screen, and be fingerprinted. Must attend a 5-week P.O.S.T. certification class, within your first 6 months of employment.
