The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Space and Launch Division, is seeking an Senior (Chief) Systems Engineer (Level 5) to support our Government Space Operations (GSO) team in Springfield, VA. operations at a spacecraft ground station as part of a Mission Operations team in Springfield, VA. Double Eagle (DE) supports operations, engineering, mission planning, and other functions in support of a Proprietary customer spacecraft constellation . In addition, our Space and Launch team work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space.

Position Overview:
The Senior (Chief) Systems Engineer will be a part of an impactful team that are immersed in innovative development projects. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to lead proprietary programs being performed for U.S. government customers responsible for national security missions in both command and control and mission processing domains. This position will be responsible for vehicle engineers across multiple missions within the East facility. This role includes supporting daily operations in the end to end technical management of multiple spacecraft missions. As the Senior (Chief) Systems Engineer you will serve as a focal point for vehicle technical issues and functions, and coordination between site and factory engineering teams.

Positions Responsibilities:
Provide technical guidance, oversight, and leadership to the Vehicle Engineering team for a customer satellite constellation.

Manage special projects and taskers.

Lead space vehicle anomaly and problem resolution processes.

Technical review, assessment, and reporting of engineering RFCs and Tier taskers.

Assess technical status of critical vehicle engineering activities and milestones to program and customer management.

Perform quality control checks across Vehicle Engineering, ensuring necessary processes and procedures are in place.

Oversee the creation and implementation of Process Improvements across the team.

Support development of organizational goals and strategy.

Interface with multiple external engineering organizations, sharing expertise and lessons learned.

Work Authorization:
This position requires an active/current Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance with CI Polygraph adjudicated. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

Willing to support a 24/7 on-call rotation environment.

10 years or more of e xperience working in an engineering discipline (Aerospace, Systems or Electrical engineering).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Spacecraft operations and/or engineering background.

Typical Education/Experience :
Bachelor's degree typically 14 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 12 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Virginia Summary pay range: Min: $181,900 - Max: $246,100
