We are formulating a new technology organization to enable data capabilities across the enterprise to help Liberty Mutual capitalize on data as a strategic advantage. Liberty Mutual Group Technology (LMG Tech) is actively searching for a senior director to lead our new enterprise data and analytics technology organization. We are looking for someone who thrives in an agile, collaborative, team-based environment, working closely with our business aligned data office, data science, and data technology leaders to sit in our recently formed Enterprise Data Practice (EDP). This position offers the opportunity to inject enterprise-wide strategic thinking into Liberty’s investment in data.


About the role:


  • Lead an organization of engineers, product owners, and architects to support and enable preferred data technologies across all of Liberty Mutual including insurance, investments, and our corporate functions (finance, talent, and legal)
  • Influence the maturing of data technology and architecture fundamentals across the enterprise
  • Partner with the EDP strategy function, CDOs, the Office of Data Science, and business unit analytics and technology leaders to shape the future of data at Liberty
  • Manage strategic vendor relationships for data platforms with critical 3rd party solution providers
  • Evaluate the current organization and operationalize the new enterprise data tech function
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership of data product and engineering teams, including platform engineering and support. Hands on data architecture and engineering experience is expected.
  • Advanced understanding of the full lifecycle of data and supporting technologies such as: Platforms (Snowflake, Redshift), ETL (Snaplogic, Glue), Catalogs (Alation, Collibra), BI, Data Science, ML Ops
  • Proven track record delivering data enterprise data solutions in support of multiple constituents in a matrixed leadership environment
  • Proven success influencing executive business leaders to embrace change and adopt new data capabilities to drive business results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill to shape and articulate complex technology vision and roadmaps that directly align to key business objectives
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills
  • High degree of flexibility and ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization with diverse backgrounds
  • Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly
  • Strong relevant and technical consulting skills; easily be recognized as a thought leader within the company
