Job Summary

The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting to fill a vacancy for a Senior Program Specialist, Special Education, in the Special Education department The Senior Program Specialist will work with assigned school sites and school districts to facilitate services to students with exceptional needs, including selection and use of instructional materials and supports, providing professional development and trainings, tracking and assigning caseloads, and serving as a resource in the field of special education. This position will also evaluate data to assist with monitoring and compliance with state and federal laws in the area of special education. The Senior Program Specialist position will offer a 224 day calendar and the certificated management benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, and will participate in the STRS state retirement system.

Requirements / Qualifications

This position requires the following certifications, education, and experience: Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of teaching and/or administrative experience in the education of individuals with exceptional needs and a specialized, in-depth knowledge of one or more areas of major disabling conditions, and across all age levels. Education: A master’s degree in special education, education, educational administration, or closely related field. Equivalency: A combination of education and experience equivalent to a master’s degree in special education, education, educational administration, or closely related field, and a minimum of five (5) years of teaching and/or administrative experience in the education of individuals with exceptional needs and a specialized in-depth knowledge of one or more areas of major disabling conditions, and across all age levels.

CREDENTIAL/CERTIFICATES:

One of the following:

Valid California Education Specialist Credential;
Valid California Pupil Personnel Services in School Psychology, School Counseling, Social Work;
Valid California Clinical Rehabilitation Services or Speech Pathology Services or equivalent document;
Valid California Administrative Services Credential preferred

At time of hire, a valid California driver’s license to travel to assigned school sites across San Diego County.

Pay: $508.51 - $618.12 per day
