Summary
We seek a highly motivated scientist with industry experience in analytical method development to support method and formulation development of oligonucleotides such as siRNA, ASO, and PMOs. Our clients include biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies from new startups to those with global operations. Competitive applicants will be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of techniques to manipulate and characterize oligonucleotides, an ability to collaborate in a dynamic and fast changing environment, creative problem solving, and excellent oral as well as written communication skills. This is a full-time scientist position in Woburn, MA with title commensurate to experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead project teams that solve technical problems and meet quality standards.
- Routinely communicate with clients to present results and describe planned experiments clearly and concisely both verbally and in written documents.
- Independently design and execute experiments, analyze data, and present results.
- Supervise, manage, and train a team of 2 – 4 junior scientists.
- Strive to meet agreed-upon timelines and regularly communicate progress to stakeholders.
- Maintain a strong awareness of scientific literature relevant to nucleic acid therapeutics.
- Continuously improve research and development skills to advance technical capabilities of Pace.
- Write persuasive proposals for prospective clients with clearly defined scope of work, duration/schedule, and deliverables.
Required background and experience includes:
- Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, or closely related discipline. Title will be commensurate with education and years of experience. M.S. candidates with 12+ years of industry experience and Ph.D. candidates with 6+ years of industry and relevant academic experience will be considered at the Senior Scientist level.
- Hands-on experience in chromatography (SEC, IEX, & IPRP HPLC/UPLC), spectroscopy (UV, CD), and mass spectrometry (LC-MS, LC-MS/MS) of therapeutic oligonucleotides.
- Established track record of significant contributions as an individual technical expert as well as the ability to thrive in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Development and use of analytical methods for identity, assay, purity/impurity, and characterization of large molecules such as oligonucleotides, gRNA, mRNA, peptides, or proteins. Experience with analytical method validation is also desired.
- Formulation of oligonucleotides for various routes of administration. Experience in the lyophilization of drug products is also desired.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills as well as polished presentation skills.
- Ability to manage people and projects

Work is performed in a lab and office setting. Work is subject to chemicals, fumes, gasses, noxious odors and related items in a lab setting.
