The shipping clerk performs all shipping and receiving duties, including materials handling and organization. Responsible for the daily shipping and receiving functions of the plant.
Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receive, check, and validate the accuracy of incoming materials.- Enter receipts into the computer.
- Print receiving tickets.
- Identify received materials and deliver them for storage/use.
- Pull, package, and ship orders according to established procedures.
- Track packages as requested.
- Apply shipping charges to customer orders for invoicing.
- Issue return authorizations.
- Reconcile pallets.
- Weigh outgoing product.
- Load outgoing materials on to flatbeds and into trailers using forklift.
- Put stock in designated locations as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized warehouse, dock, and shipping office.
- Participate in physical inventory and cycle counts.
- Report inventory discrepancies.Prepare regular shipping and receiving reports for managers.
- Consistently achieves shipment of products without delays or returns.
- Complies with Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements/procedures at all times.
- Operate site computerized system and perform required data entry.
- Other duties as assigned.
In Alaska, employees are paid overtime after eight regular hours in a day, and after 40 regular hours in a week. With minimal onsite expenses, and hopefully a large fish run, this is often a great way to make money in a relatively short period of time. NPSI recognizes several holidays during the year. Hourly employees are paid at their overtime rate for all hours worked on the holiday. In the summer, July 4th is a recognized holiday.

1 year of experience as shipping clerk, preferably in the Alaska seafood industry.- Forklift certified or ability to obtain.
- Experience with relevant warehouse management system (WMS)
- Working knowledge of good manufacturing practices and food safety regulations.
- Effective oral and written communications.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability and willingness to work in a seafood processing plant with inherent hazards such as moving machinery, ammonia, wet floors, noise, forklift traffic, etc. Work is often in inclement weather (cold, wind, rain, snow).
- Ability to work long hours, seven days a week, during the production seasons.
- Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Transportation, Room and Board
NPSI provides transportation from certain points of travel (generally, Seattle, WA and Anchorage, AK) to the worksite and back, as well as room and board, for those employees who work until they are laid off. Employees who leave before the season ends may be responsible for their own transportation, and they will be charged $15 per day for room and board.

Payroll Information
Pay periods are biweekly. Our workday is defined as the calendar day, and our work week runs from Monday through Sunday. Employees are paid on the Friday following the end of the biweekly pay period. We encourage employees to sign up for direct deposit but you may elect to receive paper checks instead.
