Position Overview:

The Software Development Manager is a critical role in our Product Development organization. This key leader serves as manager and scrum master - enabling the team to achieve their highest level of performance and team members to fulfill career goals. S/he acts as a servant leader and shelters the team from external distractions, allowing team members to focus on their commitments and reach their full potential. This position requires commitment to exceptional results, a strong desire for continuous improvement and the ability to build a collaborative culture within the product team. This in turn will ensure we continue to innovate and expand our market-leading product suite.

During the first six months, you will:

• Lead Universal Reporting engineers to deliver new features that improve our client's user experience with Paylocity’s reporting solution.
• Increase team’s delivery predictability by developing and executing implementation plans.
• Deepen customer feedback loops
• Facilitate team and project coordination sessions, remove impediments, and enable the team to be their best
• Discover requirements and manage dependencies across the product suite
• Effectively manage production issues and communicate business impact to stakeholders
• Develop team member skill sets that are broad and/or deep as the business demands and grow the leadership capabilities of team members
• Facilitate longer-term career plans with each member of the team, and find opportunities for team members to fulfill their goals
• Nourish a collaborative diverse environment where open and honest feedback flourishes

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field, preferred
• 5-7 years of experience building large scale web applications in a hybrid cloud or cloud environment
• 3+ years of experience as a full-stack developer
• Proven trouble-shooting skills
• Familiarity with design and implementation experience of Container and Container Orchestration technologies
• Experience in object-oriented design and experience developing in at least one object-oriented language
• Comfortable writing complex SQL queries
• 2+ years of managing software development teams
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Understanding of security, scalability, reliability, reusability and maintainability tactics and strategies
• Experience managing teams that support their own code, managing of on-call rotation and leading incident response processes
• Ability to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives

Nice-to-have Experience:

• Experience with .NET 6, C#, AWS, React or Angular
• Experience with Postgres
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification or Certified Scrum Practitioner (CSP)
• Experience working with APM tools such as DataDog or Elk/Kibana

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $125,205 - $241,345/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here.
