As an individual contributor, the Business Applications Analyst works cross-functionally with Business leaders, Product Managers, Super users, Engineering, Change Management, and other internal IT teams combining the roles of business application owner and technical application owner to apply dedicated and focused capacity on AZPetVet’s current and future critical application environment to maintain alignment with evolving functional business needs, maintain application ongoing license requirements, identify and plan required security updates, and ensure we are operating on a near current version. They are responsible for owning and leveraging indirect reports overseeing:

  • Understanding and documenting how critical applications delivers value to the AZPetVet business. This includes but is not limited to clinical applications (EMR, Dental, Lab), and back-office applications (Workday, Paylocity, Mass 500, Remedy and Service Now)
  • Strategizing the technical roadmap of the application
  • Understanding and improving application processes to improve business outcomes through the building and maintenance of relationships with hospital and business office leadership and stakeholders and translating through a variety of documentation types to technical stakeholders responsible for modifying application behavior.
  • Liaising with stakeholders such as business stakeholders, project personnel, vendors, and end-users regarding project requirements
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of reporting requirements
  • Track application logistics not limited to version lifecycle, licensing, access management accuracy and budget requirements
  • Keep current on Veterinary tools and solutions that will support our competitive advantage

We seek a high performing candidate to help create and maintain an application ownership and governance model to support several off the shelf applications.

Applications in scope include but are not limited to Hospital Patient Information System and Workday ERP.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Become intimate with strategic business applications, their purpose, end user requirements and processes. This includes but is not limited to clinical applications (EMR, Dental, Lab), and back-office applications (Workday, Paylocity, Mass 500, Remedy and Service Now)
  • Become knowledgeable with the technical aspects and interdependencies of these applications
  • Understand the strategic direction of the business and application interdependencies
  • Coordinate the delivery of application features and functions workload and tasks including:
    • Gather and document functional requirements and any related cost benefit analysis
    • Collaborate with internal or external development resources to scope work needed to deliver required features and functions
    • Present proposed initiative for approval
    • Interface between development resources and business stakeholders through development sprints
    • Assist business areas in the development of user acceptance test plans
    • Participate in quality testing of development
    • Set final criteria for development completion
  • Plan near, mid and long term needs for each of these critical business applications
  • Provide and track budget requirements
  • Participate in the development of related business continuity plans
  • Support the development of test plans and system testing by documenting Session Initiation and User Acceptance test plans and ensuring the completion of those using standard O365 or similar tools.
  • Gather requirements and work with technical infrastructure owners to streamline access administration into business applications. This includes owning access administration until it can be automated or documented to a degree it can be transitioned to a logical and cost-effective department resource.
  • Gathering and consolidating unrefined business requirements from multiple sources and converge them into meaningful functional specifications.
  • Evaluate and provide recommended improvements to setup and processes
  • Participate in evaluating alternative solutions in the form of new technologies and/or adjustments to business process in response to business needs or challenges
  • Maintain explicit documentation on all aspects of each application in scope including but not limited to:
    • Critical Application Inventory
    • Application Overview
    • Application Roadmaps
    • Application Process Flowcharts
    • Access processes
  • Work across the AZPetVet and TAG businesses on needs and directives
