Job Summary - Senior Product Manager Job Description

Come join a team that develops and supports highly technologically advanced Intermodal Terminal Systems. In this role, you will combine knowledge of Terminal Processes with Technology Automation. Our team develops back-office applications, mobile applications, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, deploys multiple operating systems and applications to help keep the CSX Intermodal Business running. This is a creative group always looking to push technological boundaries while teaming with Intermodal Operations staff to always improve capabilities at our Terminals . We are seeking a self-motivated, innovative, and strategic thinker, responsible for continuously driving the delivery of large, complex products forward by leveraging technological and functional advances. This person will be accountable for cross-functional partnerships in the development and delivery of new products and vendor management. Deliver large, complex products that meet business needs by conducting market research when appropriate and obtaining a clear understanding of business processes and goals. Identify product functions, create timeframes, and release strategies. Deep understanding of how the product fits in and impacts the broader portfolio and ecosystem.

This person is responsible for leading a team of 5-10 people.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive vision and delivery of innovative products to keep the business relevant and competitive
• Provide thought leadership and partner with business leaders to create a digital product strategy
• Provide value delivery in one or more large, complex Digital Product Lines
• Foster cross-functional partnerships (across business, product, design, and engineering teams) to deliver scalable, reliable, and cost-effective digital solutions
• Responsible for active leadership in communities of practice and drive maturity in CSX’s product management capability
• Supervise team members, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
• 8 or more years of experience required in IT projects or Intermodal Terminal/Port Operations.
• 2 or more years supervisory experience

Equivalent Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED
• 10 or more years of experience required in IT projects within Technology or as a Business Partner.
• 2 or more years supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate degree
• 10 or more years of experience in Transportation/Logistics/Rail Operations IT projects or as Intermodal Terminals Subject Matter Expert.
• Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) Certification
• 3 or more years supervisory experience

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of product management methods
• Can identify opportunities for Technology to assist in improving Terminal Operations
• Experience working directly with designers and engineers to design and iterate on products
• Ability to be creative, strategic, analytical, and think outside the box to solve problems
• Strong time management skills
• Interpersonal skills with a keen ability to explain complex concepts across the organization and to large audiences
• Knowledge of system development life cycles and methodologies
• Written and oral communications skills to communicate with all levels in the organization efficiently and effectively as well as creating clear visual presentations for business and upper management
