About the role:
A fully qualified engineer conversant in all subject areas relevant to supplier and supplied material qualification. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Engineering specialty involves the improvement of existing manufacturing processes interfacing with supplier and internal engineering groups in resolving problems encountered in the supply chain. Work is usually independently performed with general instructions as to the objectives expected. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.
This role can work hybrid (onsite 3 days a week) out of our site in Arden Hills, MN or Clonmel, Ireland.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Executes plans to support supply chain objectives; supplier performance, supplied material risk mitigation, supplier failure analysis activities and closure, and execution of materials VIP. Proficient in the use of all business tools.
- Engages closely with cross functional team members (R&D, Manufacturing, Process Development) to gain full understanding of the design requirements (electrical and mechanical) needed to ensure a successful finished good product for released and new product development projects. With the knowledge obtained on the required design requirements, work closely with the category team and the supplier base to source the desired material (off the shelf or custom). Drive the required material being sourced from the supplier(s) through the development phase, successful qualification and production release activities.
- Leads and/or participates in project teams coordinating the efforts of engineers and cross functional team members to qualify and improve supplier processes. Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work for part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
- Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and difficult coordination requirement.
- Lead NCEP/CAPA/Complaint investigations where supplied material is a potential root cause. Expert in the use of statistical tools (re. Six Sigma Green Belt). Can provide guidance to junior engineering staff on problem solving methodology. Familiar with analytical techniques commonly used to investigate component defects. Proficiency in report writing skills.
What We're Looking for in You:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 5+ years of experience supporting complex mechanical or electrical systems
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with suppliers
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Strong drive for action and results orientated
- Self-driven and self-motivated to learn and apply knowledge to produce results
- Ability to stay on top of market trend to incorporate those benefit into the category strategy
- Good understanding of statistical methods, six sigma methodologies, and problem-solving methodologies
- Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines promptly with great attention to detail
- Experience in the Medical Device field
- Knowledge of BSC products and processes
- Good at working with multi-disciplinary teams
