Position Title: Staff Hydrogeologist II

Description of Position:

We are looking for a creative, passionate, and organized Staff Hydrogeologist II to join our groundwater team. Our team's breadth of work is expanding, and we are looking for support on our groundwater supply projects and to collect and manage hydrogeologic field data, oversee well drilling and construction, prepare hydrogeologic/engineering reports, and conduct groundwater modeling. This position will be primarily located out of our Denver Office headquarters with ongoing travel to other satellite field locations. The right candidate will be willing and able to work a flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends, as required to meet the needs of the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, manage and evaluate hydrogeologic data in support of groundwater supply and groundwater management projects.
  • Develop hydrogeologic conceptual models based on published data.
  • Develop groundwater flow models based on the site hydrogeologic model.
  • Oversee drilling contractors during water well drilling, monitoring well drilling, and aquifer testing.
  • Develop borehole lithology logs and as-built well construction diagrams.
  • Collect groundwater, surface water, and soil samples for laboratory analysis; coordinate with laboratories; and organize data.
  • Deploy, operate, and maintain groundwater and surface water monitoring instrumentation.
  • Support and coordinate with geophysical subcontractors for surface and downhole geophysical surveys.
  • Respond to data requests from clients, contractors, and constructors.
  • Communicate and coordinate between subcontractors, contractors, and clients to promote project success.
  • Develops plans for sampling and analysis, field work, and communication.
  • Responsible for completing work in safe manner in accordance with company Health and Safety Plans

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or greater in geological engineering, environmental engineering, geology, hydrology, environmental sciences, or a related field required.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in environmental science and engineering consulting preferred.
  • A professional engineering or geologist license, or a desire to obtain licensure.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Experience with the following preferred:
  • GIS
  • MODFLOW
  • Leapfrog and Petra
  • Data management using Python or R
  • Well drilling and construction oversight

Total Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 annually depending upon years of experience and education. Salary is negotiable for a higher level of experience. LRE reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted salary range depending on experience. LRE also distributes bonuses and 401k contributions based on annual company profitability. Employer paid benefits increase total compensation by approximately 20%. Flexible Work Options

Travel Requirements

This position includes ongoing out-of-state travel to project sites. Travel expenses, lodging, and per diem will be paid for work travel.

We strive to maintain a 40-hour work week to support a healthy work-life balance. Field work may require travel, long field days, weekend work, and night work that will occasionally result in weeks with more than 40-hours of work. We will work with the Staff Hydrogeologist II to limit overtime work and support a work-life balance.
