The Casecart Aide (Sterile Processing Tech) is responsible for performing all duties related to accurate and timely cleaning, inspection, assembly and sterilization of surgical, diagnostic & procedural instrumentation and equipment to meet customer and customer needs. JOB DESCRIPTION
- Operates processing equipment such as instrument washers, sterilizers, biological incubators and otherequipment in accordance to department policies and procedures and/or the manufacturer's instructionsfor use.
- Performs surgical case cart assembly accurately and efficiently, collecting and organizing disposable items, reusable items and all necessary paperwork on a cart(s) in accordance to preference card instructions.
- Performs manual cleaning accurately and efficiently to remove contaminants from reusable instrumentation and equipment making them safe to handle.
- Inspects and assembles instrument trays accurately, selects appropriate packaging and performs tasks orderly and in an efficient manner according to the established recipes.
- Fills out electronic sterilization records and logs with precision to include verification of the sterilization parameters for Steam, EtO and Sterrad sterilization.
- Interacts professionally with various customers and co-workers. Maintains knowledge of current technologies and medical terminology
- Communicates inventory needs, equipment information and end of shift report in a concise manner.
- Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals.

- The team member is accountable to maintain skill proficiency, including improvement where deemed necessary, and upgrading any additional or new skills on the appropriate position skills list.
- Recognizes and complies with legal, regulatory, accrediting and procedural requirements related to area of responsibility.
- Understands and follows principles and standards.
- Protects customer and team member privacy and only accesses customer and/or team member related information as needed to perform job duties.
- Reports violations or areas of concern to supervisor or Corporate Compliance Officer via established methods of communication.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
- Instrument Room or Operating Room Technologist experience - Preferred
- 1 year SPD and/or Case Cart experience in lieu of Sterile Processing Technician
- Certification from MCTC SPD, CBSPD, IAHCSMM or equivalent program/certification - Required
- Previous Case Cart experience - Preferred
- Possess basic computer usage/skills, ability to delineate colors - Required
- Knowledge of, and demonstrated ability to perform manual decontamination, inspection, assembly and packaging methods for sterilization - Required
- Knowledge of, and demonstrated ability to operate automated SPD Equipment - Required
- High school graduate or equivalent - Required
- Knowledge of basic instruments, common medical abbreviations, and basic medical terminology - Required
