Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed designs of substation physical layouts, sections, lightning protection, grounding analysis and design, conduit and cable plans, generating single and three-line diagrams, illumination design, bill of material, and AC station service systems
• Coordination with structural, civil, transmission line, and drafting disciplines
• Participate in client meetings and perform site visits for data gathering as required
• Review shop drawings and material specifications
• Providing field support during construction
• Develop AC ampacity, load and voltage drop calculations
• Prepare engineering reports
• Perform/ensure company’s Quality assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes are being followed on all design packages
• Continuous improvement of job-related engineering, technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance

Requirements

• 2+ years of relevant experience.
• B.S. in electrical engineering from an accredited university, preferably with focus in power systems
• Comprehensive understanding of the utility grid (power generation, transmission and distributions) system
• Comprehensive understanding of the function and application of major substation electrical and control house equipment
• Strong competence in applying basic theories and principles involved in substation engineering
• Knowledge of power industry standards and codes such as IEEE, NESC, and NEC.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong attention to details
• Ability to work remotely without supervision

Desired or Preferred Skills

• FE or PE license
• Advanced user of Microsoft products, specifically Excel, Word, and/or Access
• Ability to plan and manage assignments and clearly communicate barriers to completion of tasks on budget/schedule
• Use of industry software such as CDEGS, WinIGS and AGi32 for engineering studies.

Salary and benefits are negotiable based on experience.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
