About Us:

The Arc of Essex County is a non-profit organization that provides services and programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

Camp Hope is a seven-week summer day camp program, in East Hanover, for campers with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Operating since 1956, camp runs Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, starting in early July and ending in August. Camp Hope provides traditional camp activities including supervised swimming and outdoor fun with modified sports, arts & crafts and music. While enjoying these activities, attention is also given to daily living skills, peer interaction, socialization skills and developing appropriate behaviors.

Job Summary:

We are currently hiring Camp Activities Specialist to join our team for the summer of 2023.

Camp Duration: JULY 5, 2023 - AUGUST 18, 2023

There will be mandatory training in the weeks prior to the start of the camp. The training dates are JUNE 26, 2023 - JUNE 30, 2023.

All staff will be trained in CPR/1st Aid as well as other mandated trainings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides supervision, and is responsible for all aspects of the operation of Camp Hope’s activities under supervision of Camp Manager
• Develops, implements and supervises daily activity programs geared to the individual needs of camp participants
• Prepares weekly activity plans to be submitted to the Camp Manager for review
• Sets up the program area, orders necessary materials and supplies for season, conducts initial inspection of all equipment and recommends for repair as needed.

Requirements:

• Must be 18 years old or older

Education / Work Experience / Skills:

• BA in Special Education preferred (or related field) or high school diploma with 24 weeks experience with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
