SUMMARY:

The Sustaining Engineer supports Crenlo Engineered Cabs North American facilities (Rochester, Minnesota, Watertown, South Dakota and Greeneville, Tennessee) off-highway cab products currently in production by improving safety in manufacturing of current products, support existing products for ease of manufacture, implement quality improvements and execute customer requested design revisions. You must be a result driven individual with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, attention to detail, able to influence across the organization and desire to make a difference. This position can be based in Rochester, MN or Watertown SD.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support Engineering Changes associated with complex welded steel structures (Rollover Protection Structures compliant with industry requirements), sheet metal components, non-metallic components (interior and exterior), HVAC systems, mechanical components and systems, electronics/wire harnesses and other areas associated with the cab Operator's environment in the off-highway industry.
• Support development and implementation of design changes for existing products using established Crenlo Engineering Change Request and Engineering Change Notice processes for North American Facilities for all Cab products.
• Support requests of North American facility internal customers—Quality, Manufacturing and Purchasing teams by developing and implementing design solutions.
• Support the development and maintenance for configuration of products and options for customer requests and product orders through BOM structures where applicable
• Implementation of design changes includes:
  • Translate of internal and external customer requests and requirements into a detailed and clear Engineering Change Request
  • Create and modification of 3D model geometries
  • Complete component evaluation and selection
  • Creation of print structures and prints aligned with Crenlo standards and manufacturing requirements
  • Complete model checks for interference, parameters and external references
  • Maintain accurate Bills of Materials for design changes
• Work in collaboration and support with Cost Estimating, Purchasing, Planning, Sales, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering.
• Participate in design review activities ensuring that robust technical development processes and methodologies are implemented on products post-launch
• Participate in 8D root cause and corrective action implementation processes.
• Develop design solutions and manufacturing solutions based on an understanding of internal and external manufacturing processes and capabilities.
• Requires basic understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing requirements and couples this knowledge with an understanding of manufacturing process capabilities for optimal design for manufacturability.
• Support product design revision implementation and incorporate facility feedback of design revision execution to optimize cost and quality.
• Provide concise and effective technical guidance and communication to internal and external customers; builds effective technical communication paths with internal and external customers.
• Support the resolution of current production design-based issues,accurately define and deliver on customer requested production improvements and changes.
• Develop product design improvements using as a tool CREO-Parametric 4.0 (or higher versions)
• Make 3D mathematic models and 2D detailed drawings;
• Manage the files (drawings) on CREO or PDF format within their respective revisions and releases using PTC-Windchill 11.1 (or higher versions
• Support the Maintenance and or Continuous improvement of key Engineering Change Processes and Systems – system design updates through feedback, data access and metrics

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field or applicable experience.
• 0-5+ years steel structure, sheet metal part design, welded component assembly experience in the Off-Highway Industry.
• 3D modelling experience (Creo preferred)
• Design for Manufacturability: 0-5+ years of experience in complex product environments
• Requires general understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing requirements and couples this knowledge with an understanding of manufacturing process capabilities for optimal design for manufacturability
