Job Summary

Owensboro Community and Technical College invites applications to apply for a full-time Theatre Arts: Technical Theatre Faculty and Program Coordinator position in the Humanities and Fine Arts Department for courses such as: Acting 1 (Fundamentals of Acting), Stage Production, Stage Electrics, Production Practicum, Performance Practicum, etc.

Job Duties:

  • Teach undergraduate courses
  • Provide academic advising and career-related counseling for students
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Participate in internal and external service activities
  • Lead the AFA-Theatre Program, supervising adjunct faculty
  • Direct performances for Oak Island Theatre once per term
  • Support the OCTC Speech and Debate Team


Assignments may include some evening, weekend, online, hybrid, and/or off-campus courses. Candidates must possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, working with a diverse population, and the community and technical college mission.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience within theatre profession
  • Directorial experience
  • The successful candidate will commit to completing an Master of Fine Arts-Theatre or Master of Arts-Theatre program within 3-years of hire date to maintain employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Fine Arts, Theatre or equivalent degree
  • Experience using online learning management system (Blackboard)
  • Experience with costuming, set design, stage electrics, and/or sound design preferred
  • Youth development and/or coaching experience
