Role:
The Bank Training and Development Specialist is responsible for planning and leading the professional development and continuous learning of team members at all levels, supporting strategic goals, and promoting the company culture and values for Security First Bank and Security First Insurance. This role assesses company-wide development needs, develops recommendations, plans, implements, tracks, and reports training solutions, and trains selected programs. This individual is actively involved in the succession planning process, coaching, and mentoring all manager levels and emerging leaders.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Designs, implements, and directs an employee development program and training curriculum to achieve strategic business goals and results.
- Conducts or manages needs assessments and analyzes results to use when designing development initiatives for all team members.
- Designs, writes, and/or selects appropriate training materials then evaluates effectiveness based on determined criteria.
- Trains and/or prepares others to train in areas such as management, leadership, professional development topics, and subject-matter expert facilitation skills.
- Schedule and coordinate programs and workshops, including speaker contracts and program logistics, schedules, instructional materials, and equipment.
- Creates the overall blueprint/structure for growth and development of Security First Bank and Security First Insurance employees with proactive involvement in the succession planning process.
- Works with various levels of management to help train and build effective teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Assesses, monitors, and communicates results of training effectiveness to appropriate levels of leadership.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Performance Management:
- Handle the administrative and operational aspects of the training and development plans such as building training calendars, tracking internal and external trainings/education, generating reports, and managing the maintenance of in-house training tools and equipment.
- Stay updated on trends and tools in employee training and development, participates in professional industry associations, and actively works on own continuous learning plan.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education and/or Experience.
- Associate degree
- One to three years banking or educational experience preferred; or applied knowledge in banking policies, procedures, and compliance regulatory requirements.
- Coaching, teaching, or prior training experience preferred.
- Knowledge of loan applications systems and software plus proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs.
Skills.
- Travel, as needed, both within and outside Security First Bank markets; requires overnight stays.
- Ability to work independently and problem solve in situations where precedents may not be set.
- Perform multiple duties and make decisions under frequent time pressures.
- Ability to write easy to understand technical documents.
Interpersonal Skills.
- Ability to apply and teach bank regulations and compliance policies.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Superior problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and able to work with little direct supervision.
- Team Oriented.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy.

While performing this job the employee would occasionally be required to carry loads up to and including 24lbs. It is frequently necessary to bend, squat, reach above the shoulder level, crouch, kneel, balance and push/pull equipment. Firm grasping/fine manipulation with the right/left hand is necessary. In an 8-hour day, the employee can expect to sit or stand about 6 hours.
