What does it take to become a Civican?

This position will provide support in the development and execution of library related training and programmes/activities for the purpose of upskilling our staff as well as fulfilling our contractual deliverables with our clients.


A day in the life…

    Library Training

  • Development of training programmes (including preparation of training manuals and presentation slides)
  • Conduct regular training for staff on-boarding and continuous training programmes including workshops and training for individual and group sessions
  • Assist in the train-the-trainer sessions as required
  • Provide administrative support for the organisation and delivery of all training programmes
  • Work with third parties to enhance the quality of training programmes
  • Evaluate and review the effectiveness of training programmes
  • Library Programmes/Activities

  • Development of reading and literacy programmes/activities (including preparation of programme guides, activities, etc.)
  • Assist in the implementation of reading and literacy programmes as identified for the relevant target audience
  • Deliver/Execute library programmes/activities at customer sites
  • Assist in the development and production of the library programmes/activities online catalogue including working with third parties
  • Provide administrative support for the organisation and delivery of all reading and literacy programmes/activities
  • Work with third parties to enhance the quality of programmes/activities
  • Evaluate and review the effectiveness of reading and literacy programmes/activities

You possess the following qualities:

  • Minimum Diploma/Degree with course of study in communications or library science preferred, and fluent in English
  • Reliable, friendly and approachable personality
  • Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Knowledge of library, development and conceptualising reading programmes and exposure to eLearning tools an advantage
  • Knowledge of Library System (Spydus) will be an advantage
  • Familiar with digital, internet and social media online tools and platforms
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), and instructional software
  • Proven experience as a trainer would be an advantage
  • Preferably ACTA or ACLP certified
