POSITION SUMMARY:

To assure the effective function of the Transportation Department by assisting the Director of Transportation in providing hospital patients and all departments with prompt and efficient service.

To handle all the clerical and dispatch duties of the department.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 1. Serving as dispatcher and coordinate work schedules of those assigned to the transportation department.
• 2. Ensures that the department has all the equipment and materials needed for its smooth operation.
• 3. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations
• 4. Analyzes and resolves work related problems, and/or assists workers in solving work related problems.
• 5. Recommend personnel actions, such as training, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
• 6. Process/maintain employee time records.
• 7. Prepare monthly departmental reports.
• 8. Schedule vehicle maintenance and/or repairs.
• 9. Provide detailed documentation of all incidents involving transportation activities.
• 10. Participates in departmental CQI activities.
• 11. May be required to vary shifts and/or weekend rotation as the needs of the department dictate.
• 12. May include overtime.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

REASONING DEVELOPMENT:

Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.

MATHEMATICAL DEVELOPMENT:

Add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure. Perform the four operations with like common and decimal fractions. Compute ratio, rate, and percent. Draw and interpret bar graphs. Perform arithmetic operations involving all American monetary units.

LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT:

Reading: Read and understand instructions, safety rules, etc.

Writing: Write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.

Speaking: Speak with poise, voice control, and confidence, using correct English and well-modulated voice.

RELATIONSHIPS TO DATA, PEOPLE AND THINGS:

Data: Compiling: Gathering, collating, or classifying information about data, people or things. Reporting and/or carrying out a prescribed action in relation to information is frequently involved.

People: Speaking-Signaling: Talking with and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information.

Things: Handling: Using body members, hand tools, and/or special devices to work, move, or carry objects or materials.

QUALIFICATION:

To do this job, you must have the following amount of total education and/or experience:

- High school education or equivalent.

- Prior supervisory work experience.

- Knowledge of Miami-Dade County area.

To do this job, you must have the following licenses or certifications before being hired:

- Current Florida Operators Driver=s License
