Stauffer Veterinary Surgical Center is a referral-based practice. Dr. Stauffer works in tandem with general practice veterinarians to address the pet’s needs, providing the expertise in diagnosis and corrective procedures. After being referred, the pet and pet owner process begins with a consultation with Dr. Stauffer to assess the pet’s condition and discuss the treatment plan for the optimal outcome. We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our growing hospital to provide exceptional care to our patients! You will work alongside other skilled Vet Assistants, support our Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and DVMs in the daily flow of the hospital. Position Skills:
- Assist DVMs and credentialed veterinary technicians with appointments, prepping patients for surgery and minor procedures, surgical assisting, and pro-actively set up for any procedures or diagnostic tests
- Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner
- Obtain accurate vitals, obtain medical histories, and/or note any changes of patient’s condition to DVM
- Care and maintenance of all medical equipment including laboratory machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines, and any other tools that are essential to daily operations
- High quality client communication on patient updates and questions
Position Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED certificate
- Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling
- Must possess strong communication skills, good judgment and be able to manage stressful situations, and work with others on a team respectfully
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Pay range of $20.00/hour based on experience
