Technology Risk Management (TRM):
TRM is a 2 nd line of defense function, reporting to the Chief Risk Officer of BNY Mellon, that provides oversight and challenge to the company’s Technology organization and related business areas. The goal of TRM is to make sure that technology, cyber / information security, resiliency, data, and technology third party risks are clearly understood by the first line of defense, transparently reported through governance and managed within the defined risk appetite and risk management framework.
Reporting Line:
This position will report to the Head of TRM covering Market & Wealth services, Investment & Wealth Management, Corporate Functions, and Third Parties, within the Technology Risk Management function.
Role Overview:
This Vice President Technology Risk Management - 3rd Parties (functional title, ‘Principal’), will assist in the execution of Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) policies, standards, and related processes, in the context of BNYM’s technology vendors. Acting as second line oversight, this position will work across our internal teams, partnering with our peer organizations to ensure alignment with our operating models and framework. The Principal will possess technical subject matter expertise across a broad spectrum of technologies (Architecture, Network Security, Information Security, Cyber Strategy, Agile/DevOps, etc.). The performer of this role will need an awareness of the products and services offered by technology third parties (software products, cloud services, market data, etc.) to financial services organizations. This role requires a b road understanding of controls, risk management concepts, risk management policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with 1st Line of defense (engagement managers, technology control managers, and business leads in various lines of businesses) to assess their compliance with the control expectations in all matters of technology third party controls and related technologies in general
- Collaborate with partners from the global and/or regional stakeholder groups (drawn from first and other second lines of defense) on enterprise-level risk mitigation and control uplift efforts
- Lead the assessment, monitoring, and reporting on technology third party-related risks inherent to business activities
- Provide challenge and oversight over management’s risk mitigation activities by raising credible challenge and control issues
- Review management metrics, Key Performance indicators (KPIs), and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to form a second-line Points of View (POVs) in the departmental reporting
- Participate in relevant steering committees and working groups to provide a second line view and approval of key risk decisions
Qualifications:
- 8+ years experience in Technology, Risk, or IT audit required
- Bachelors degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- CISA, CRISC, or equivalent certifications preferred
- Specialty certifications in third party risk management would be a plus
- Strong technical expertise in a variety of information technology areas such as Computing / Middleware / Server Platforms, CI/CD Pipeline, Data Centers, Information and Cyber Security, and Cloud services
- A high level of awareness of various banking and financial products
- Communication skills must range from participation in detailed technical discussions to business-oriented presentations to working closely with senior management in Risk, Business and Technology areas
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and drive them forward in a collaborative manner
- Assist in other technology risk management activities of the group covering Market & Wealth Services, Investment & Wealth Management, and Corporate IT
BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $100,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
