Sheppard Pratt School - Reisterstown provides programming for students in grades 9 through 12 with high functioning autism, emotional disabilities, or specific learning disabilities. The school is a co-educational program designed to maximize each student's ability to obtain his or her high school diploma in a nurturing and supportive environment. We offer a traditional high school program using the Baltimore County Public Schools Curriculum. The high school completer pathways include Spanish, auto maintenance/repair, culinary arts, computer technology, and horticulture/landscaping. In addition to work-based learning opportunities in these areas, we offer training and hands-on experience in an office support setting (e.g. copying, collating, laminating projects). These programs are designed to help students transition into the community and lead successful lives as they prepare to enter college or the work force.

As a Vocational Program Assistant you will:

• Participate in program planning and development, assist with providing pre-vocational experiences, and help to coordinate arrangements for vocational work groups.
• Assess students' vocational strengths and weaknesses, job readiness skills, and basic work habits.
• Assists the lead instructor in the development of appropriate materials for vocational preparation and in establishing work sites for students.
• Provide individual on-the-job coaching and document individual student progress on work sites on campus, within the business, as well as in the community.
• Assist with training students in specific job tasks in a variety of work settings.

Requires:

• Associate's degree in mental health, psychology or related field. Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. A high school diploma and 3+ years of experience may be considered in lieu of a completed Associate's degree.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience required. Vocational experience strongly preferred.
• Must possess valid driver's license at time of appointment and must meet Sheppard Pratt requirements to operate a hospital vehicle.
