NaphCare, Inc. has an excellent opportunity for a VP of Mental Health Services to join our team at the Corporate Headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama, 35216. Must live in Birmingham, Al and extensive is travel required.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead NaphCare's mental health team to deliver excellent mental health care in correctional facilities across the nation.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to site and corporate mental health directors, including assisting them with site staffing, processes and procedures.
  • Work with the accreditation team to ensure compliance and develop core elements for mental health service delivery that aligns with NCCHC Mental Health-accreditation standards.
  • Offer telehealth assistance in jurisdictions where licensed (e.g., clearing safety cells, clearing sick calls, mental health evaluations).
  • Develop and implement programmatic and administrative policies and procedures in conjunction with executive leadership and multi-disciplinary clinical/operational teams.
  • Oversees quality assurance in the program’s service delivery including clinical care and documentation.
  • Lead mental health aspect of facility transitions; train new mental health directors and ensure contract compliance at all sites.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical healthcare experience.
  • Clinical expertise in crisis intervention, with individuals undergoing acute episodes of psychiatric distress; skill in diagnosis and assessment.
  • Ability to lead a comprehensive mental health team and be part of a multi-disciplinary comprehensive health team.
  • Strong organizational skills, communications and administrative skills


Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in a mental health discipline is required.
  • Doctorate degree in social work/counseling or prescriber-level psychiatric provider strongly preferred.
  • Must be licensed in at least one state where NaphCare facilities are located and be able to promptly be licensed in multiple states.
