Summary:

For our direct academia client in Washington DC, we are looking for a Web Development Manager to plan/lead web service support activities and projects with a focus on public facing web services such as: Web content management, digital marketing, web analytics, video coding and streaming, blogging, search applications, and some portal services.

Responsibilities and Obligations:

  • Assist in creating tactical and strategic plans to organize and streamline the delivery of web services. Create, coordinate and execute project plans to deliver these services.
  • Lead the design, development, customization, and integration of web applications within web content management systems, specific web portal apps, and other systems to meet the online requirements. Ensure all work is done.
  • Supervise web developers, provide leadership, mentoring and guidance as well as performance evaluation. Ensure team’s adherence to enterprise standards and processes and seek opportunities to develop staff to ensure a high performing team.
  • Manage maintenance and enhancement of existing web applications for additional features, architectural improvements, web application security best-practices and operational excellence. Provide technical support to University web content managers.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field, or equivalent in education, training and experience is required.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • A thorough knowledge of current web innovations, technologies and best practices in web design, usability and accessibility, and web application security concepts, and web services (XML and XLST) are required. Candidates must also have an understanding of web environments in large IT organizations and demonstrated knowledge of information architecture principles and user-centered design principles, and be able to create and maintain articulate, structured technical documentation.
  • Practical experience with agile project lifecycles and methodologies (eg SCRUM), source code management, and code reviews are essential. Demonstrable knowledge of databases, practical experience with API and versatility in HTML, CSS and JavaScript including use of AJAX, JQUERY, and MVC libraries are necessary.
  • Programming experience with ColdFusion or CommonSpot CMS
