Organization OverviewLili'uokalani Trust (LT) is a private operating foundation founded in 1909, for the benefit of orphan and destitute children with preference given to Native Hawaiian children. The trust serves approximately 10,000 children annually through direct services and reaches thousands more through collaborations with community partners.
Job Purpose
The Summer Intern position will support a variety LTʻs programs and activites run in the ʻŌlino Pathway Programs, including but not limited to: Sports, Arts (music, dance, and performing), Kīpuka activities and other work with staff members. The intern creates communication and outreach systems for LT staff, the program participants, program coaches, and communicates with kamaliʻi and their families.
The four main areas of focus are: 1) Supporting the Outreach Specialist Team and Youth Engagement Programs; 2) Providing assistance planning and coordinating communications systems for the ʻōlino pathway programs internally and externally via email and phone correspondence; 3) Assistance in data documentation and management (i.e. Hoʻokele, DocuSign, Office 365 forms); 4) Providing back-end support in organizing and planning meetings as needed such and other related tasks such as; organizing & distribution of supplies, food handling (i.e. lunch and snacks), venue set up and break down, classroom management and assisting in other daily operational tasks.
The Summer Intern is responsible for supporting the advancement of creative youth development programs to foster creativity, self-efficacy, positive self-image, and self-expression of LT kamali'i through its programs.
Essential Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Youth Development Director and the Outreach Speacialist Team, creates internal and external systems of communications for staff, contractors, youth and families.
- Supports all activities and tasks related to the ʻŌlino Pathway Programs.
- Ensure supplies for each program are ordered and delivered in a timely manner.
- Works with instructional and program staff to improve communication systems and program management.
- Supports the Programs in generating a variety of documents and reports (e.g. attendance, daily activity, daily program content, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Technical Skill: Knowledge of Microsoft Suite; some knowledge of sports community and education institutions; experience planning and organizing events and public programs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and crouch. May frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Exposed to outdoor climate and diverse terrain. Must have access to daily transportaion.
Preferred, but not required:
A background in trauma informed care and Hawaiian studies/culture.
