Assistant Director

The Family Service of Marion and Harrison Counties, Inc.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Director works closely with and share responsibilities with the Executive Director. This is a full time position with some responsibilities outside of normal work hours. This position is responsible for assisting the Executive Director in the planning, organization and direction of the organization’s operation and programs. The position assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and operational/metrics. The position assist in the overseeing of the reports on the organization to the board of directors. The position will also be responsible for some direct supervision and training of staff.

Qualifications:

Personal: The Assistant Director’s position requires:

  • Professional Discipline
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background and abuse registry check and prior employment background check.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to be insightful, mature and visionary

Professional: The following requirements are necessary:

  • Possess a Master’s in business administration and/or Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field. A Bachelor’s level maybe considered with three years relevant experience.
  • Proven experience as assistant director or other similar position
  • Experience in performance and operations management
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and quality standards of agency funding sources
  • Outstanding in communication and some public speaking skills
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to problem-solve
  • Committed, flexible and trustworthy
  • Experience in direct practice with individuals, families and groups.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assis in developing and implementing plans, goals for the agency
  • Be accountable to the agency Board of Directors
  • Work with the director to coordinate and supervise daily operations
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies
  • Monitor attainment of agency objectives
  • Undertake staffing responsibilities (recruiting, hiring, training, retraining, evaluating etc.)
  • Monitor activities assigned to other staff members
  • Assist the director to establish and enforce budgets, timelines, and metrics
  • Assist the director in obtaining agencies, objective, of productivity and employee satisfaction
  • Maintain scheduling of events and represent the agency when needed
  • Create reports and submit them to director and/or other directors
  • Supervise, train volunteers
  • Assist in fundraising and marketing activities of the agency
  • Fulfill duties as assigned by the director

Physical Demands

The Assistant Director must be able to drive throughout the counties of West Virginia, to attend meetings, training etc. in a variety of physical locations, some of which might require climbing stairs, and walking short distances. Manual dexterity is needed to complete office task such as using a computer and copier.

Work Environment

The work environment is representative of a typical office setting when not in community. The Assistant Director will work out of a designated office where noise levels should not exceed a moderate level.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $47,500.00 per year
