We're looking for news junkie and social media guru with a drive to be the best and a passion for creating engaging content. Our goal is to grow and nurture our social media presence, app and website. WLAX 25/48 a Nexstar Media Group Television Station in La Crosse, Wisconsin is looking for a Digital Content Producer to join our growing digital team. This individual will be responsible for creating, designing, and implementing content projects for our digital portfolio. This person places all our content on both the website and social media, working with News, Sales, and Creative Services.
As social media plays a continually growing role in how everyone is getting news-and more people are seeking out news on new and emerging platforms-the Digital Content Producer will work with the web team to be the best at providing these services. The Digital Content Producer will constantly br creating content and needs to be comfortable with multi-tasking, posting breaking news and working with our news providers to distribute content. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, copy editor, and has experience or training in photo and video editing tools, and an understanding of the AP style.
- Develops and leads winning strategy for station content
- Expert understanding of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms
- Reviews copy and will correct errors in content, grammar, and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines
- Use our Social Media and Website to build and reinforce brand recognition and drive viewers to television
- Determines a story's emphasis, length, and format, and organizes material accordingly
- Research and analyze background information related to news stories in order to be able to provide complete and accurate information
- Gathers information about events through research, interviews, experience, or attendance at political, news, sports, artistic, social or other functions
- Pitches on-brand local and trending stories
- Shoots and edits content for on-air and digital platforms
- Ensures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
- Builds and calendars digital campaigns to promote local web-content
- Writes stories for the web and other digital platforms
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Finds new ways to use Social Media and our website to engage with viewers
- Lead contesting opportunities for the station
- Open to bringing new ideas and opportunities for content creation
Requirements & Skills:
- Degree in journalism/communications/multi-media preferred
- Proficiency in Associated Press style, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, WordPress, SecondStreet, and other relevant technical skills is a plus
- Maintain positive work environment through active team participation and cooperation with co-workers in all departments
- Responds positively to feedback
- Stays organized and good at multitasking
