The Core Darwin team in Software Engineering is looking for an exceptional experienced leader to drive our kernel teams at Apple. Our xnu kernel forms the foundation for all of Apple’s operating systems including iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. The kernel is key to the success of iPhone, iPad, Mac, watch, and home products lines. Our responsibilities include scaling from low power small core count wearables to high performance computing. We are the gatekeeper for system resources, the kernel’s security is paramount and pushes the envelope in industry consumer systems.

- 10 years experience leading large, distributed teams
- Deep understanding of systems software development
- Performance and security emphasis
- Strong understanding of hardware design as it relates to operating systems
- Consistent track record of successful and timely product delivery
- Evidence of driving technical innovation
Description
- UNIX fundamentals - Kernel technologies such as virtual memory, scheduling, IPC, and device driver infrastructure - Strengthening the team by retaining and hiring diverse engineering talent
Education & Experience
- BS or greater in Computer Science or equivalent experience/skills

Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $266,000 and $425,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
