Job description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This Senior-level position provides leadership and liaison as an agency representative involving federal, state, and local government policies and analyses affecting environmental quality in Wyoming.

- Analyzes and interprets the impact of federal, state, and local laws, plans, policies, and rules pertaining to Wyoming’s environment and economy.
- Drafts agency comments and agreements to address problems and communicate concerns with proposed federal regulations for consideration by senior management.
- Provides input as a cooperative agency for NEPA, EIS, and EA documents and other policy responses on behalf of the agency.
- Build collaboration and relationships with state and federal agencies such as EPA, BLM, OSMRE, US Forest Service, or Wyoming Game and Fish Department on critical issues.
- Researches, analyzes and collects information in natural resource management and land use planning. Attends professional meetings, seminars, and training to assist with and contribute to the state’s and agency’s environmental policy and planning efforts.
- Assists in drafting responses and reviewing sensitive information associated with Public Records requests.
PREFERENCES:
Proven written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality structure and programs and the ability to research and review state and federal laws, proposed rules, regulations, plans, programs, and policies.- Ability to analyze impacts and consequences of policies and proposals on the environment, Wyoming industry, landowners, the general public, natural resources, and conservation interests and to provide consensus-building solutions to issues and conflicts.
- Knowledge of government personnel management, budgeting, and strategic planning.
- Ability to self-manage multiple priorities within a flexible work schedule.
- Ability to travel.
