Keecha Harris and Associates, Inc (KHA), is a national consulting firm that is certified by the US Small Business Administration as an 8(a) and woman-owned business. KHA has staff all over the country and operates as a virtual firm. Based in Birmingham, Alabama, KHA leads organizational development, project management, and research and evaluation projects for publicly and privately funded efforts across a broad range of topics. KHA has engaged foundations representing more than $300 billion in US-based philanthropy assets. Clients include the Blue Shield of California, Annie E. Casey, Robert Wood Johnson, W.K. Kellogg, William and Flora Hewlett, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur, David and Lucile Packard, and Schmidt Family foundations. The firm has been a prime contractor for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the State of Budget Office of Michigan and a subcontractor for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the United States Department of Agriculture.
The Opportunity
Under the leadership of the Director of Programs, the Facilitator designs and facilitates workshops, retreats, and working sessions with clients, internal teams and organizational partners. The ideal candidate has experience doing team-based consulting work. In addition, our ideal candidate has extensive experience in facilitation of both large and small groups in person and virtually on topics such as racial equity, reproductive justice, intersectionality, and systemic barriers in an organizational context. We are interested in candidates with backgrounds in organizational development, strategy and planning, and/or learning. The facilitator's approach must center the experience of those most impacted and proximate to an issue and still maintain space for those at varying degrees of proximity to an issue. The facilitator must develop trusting relationships with clients and design content and facilitation sessions that are custom to the context of each client.
The Facilitator must be organized, detail-oriented, and excel in client-facing work. They must have experience in diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), racial equity and justice (REJ), and reproductive justice (RJ) work and a strong ability to communicate, hold space for and navigate tension and encourage forward movement. Ideal candidates should bring high energy, compassion and accountability to the spaces they create. They must be adaptable and able to thrive in an innovative and dynamic environment.
KHA operates as a virtual firm; this position is fully remote and is U.S. based.
The Facilitator is responsible for the following:
Design and Facilitate Engaging Sessions
- Design and facilitate virtual and in-person workshops, retreats, and working sessions with clients, internal teams, and organizational partners
- Help interested parties understand KHA's training approach and work to create contextual and impactful learning opportunities to build skills around a host of organizational development, racial equity, reproductive justice, and intersectionality topics
- Collaborate with internal resources to ensure all client needs are met
Design Content and Curriculum
- Develop highly tailored and engaging instructional content with adaptive learning methodologies and client context in mind
- Design curricula and participant workbooks for projects, including adapting established materials and creating new materials
- Advance the intellectual and reputational capital of the firm (e.g., developing tools, resources, and communications, presenting at conferences, etc.)
Build and Maintain Relationships
- Provide high-touch client facing support, engaging them in the design and delivery process, ensuring they have clear understanding of KHA's approach, soliciting and actioning on feedback throughout engagement
- Build and maintain client relationships; support efforts to develop new business by publishing articles/blog posts, contribute to and lead proposal development
- Cultivate and maintain a wide network of relationships in client, partner, and community organizations
Position Requirements
Ideal candidates will have a resume and background that reflects the following:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Education, Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology, or other relevant area
- 7+ years of experience in group facilitation and curriculum development
- Exceptional facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to deliver both in-person and virtually
- Deep personal and professional understanding of reproductive justice, intersectionality and equity and how these play out within organizations, (e.g. organizational policy and processes, interpersonal management, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience and a developed network in the reproductive justice field
- Excellent project management experience and organizational skills including ability to effectively collaborate with and engage internal and external stakeholders from kick off to close of a training engagement
- Well-developed understanding of processes, such as how to enable group decision-making, problem-solving, and organizing and structuring agendas for appropriate results
- Possessing a sense of curiosity and an ability to think creatively and critically
- Willing to engage with cultural humility and an awareness of one's identity and privilege
- A clear communicator, with excellent written and oral/expressive communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in group facilitation and curriculum development
- Formal facilitation training
- Experience in leading strategic planning, organizational development processes experience and/or online instructional design and content development
- Advanced facilitation and presentation skills, with demonstrated ability to deliver both in-person and virtually
- Management or internal consulting experience, either as part of a firm or solo practice.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and strategic listening skills are necessary to effectively exercise tact, discretion, judgment, and diplomacy when interacting and/or negotiating with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
LOCATION
KHA operates as a virtual firm; this position is fully remote and is U.S. based.
Ability to travel domestically as needed up to 50-75%
