FIREFIGHTER EMT / PARAMEDIC

*This position is based in Tucson*

IMMEDIATELY HIRING! FIREFIGHTER EMT / PARAMEDIC FULL - TIME Opportunity

• Firefighter Paramedic- $61 ,000.00/average annual compensation

Firefighter EMT- $51 ,000.00/average annual compensation

*$10,000 sign on bonus for Firefighter Paramedic FT employees with a 2-year commitment* (see notation below)

We're hiring Firefighter-EMTs and Firefighter-Paramedics under general supervision to perform fire prevention, fire suppression, hazardous material incident response and emergency rescue and Advance Life Support medical assistance duties to protect life and property; performs related responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• State of Arizona, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (ProBoard) certifications as a minimum: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Operations.
• State issued or Nation Registered EMT-Paramedic.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Current PALS certification.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record in accordance with Rural Metro policy. DUI within the last five years is disqualifying.
• Able to work any shift assigned, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Available to work overtime as assigned and as needed on an emergency basis.
• Must meet local standards pertaining to qualifications, training, and/or eligibility for hiring, placement, or promotion.

• While performing the duties of this job, fire department personnel are frequently required to walk, sit, climb, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, lift, talk, see, hear, feel, use clear speech, and operate machinery. There is need to reach and perform moderate (20-50 pounds) and frequent heavy (50-200 pounds) lifting during the use of tools and equipment and while assisting others while extinguishing fires or treating ill/injured persons.
• Firefighting may require an annual pack test. The pack test refers to work capacity tests used to qualify individuals for Wildland firefighting duty. The pack test measures aerobic capacity, muscular strength, and muscular endurance. The pack test requires completion at the arduous endurance level: a 3-mile hike with a 45-pound pack to be completed in 45 minutes.

Essential Functions

Fire Suppression:

• Performs fire suppression duties by responding to emergency fire incidents.
• Assists in the suppression of structural, residential, commercial, industrial, chemical, petroleum, vehicle, and wildland fires, applying the appropriate extinguishing agents to the source of the fire.
• Operates various pieces of fire equipment and gear for fire suppression and control; drives and operates fire apparatus; search and rescue; ventilation and salvage operations.
• Provides written reports detailing specific firefighting and rescue actions taken on scene.

Emergency Medical Services:

• Responds to emergency medical calls; performs primary and secondary physical assessment of ill or injured persons, providing emergency and non-emergency medical procedures both on scene and in a moving vehicle.
• Performs skilled tasks at the scene of emergency and non-emergency calls, and transfers patients to medical facilities.
• Treat patients in accordance with established Emergency Medical Service Protocols and Rural Metro Fire Department policy.
• Provide written reports detailing patient care.
• May serve as a preceptor for paramedic and EMT-B trainees.
• May, from time to time, be assigned primary duties as an emergency medical technician paramedic on 911 or transport ambulance.
• Under a physician's direction, provides treatment or directs response team in administration of medications, intravenous solutions, respiratory assistance, EKG monitoring, telemetry transmissions, and other life support procedures.
