Position Summary
:
Direct day-to-day operations of KRSC-TV including administrative, programming, engineering and development activities.

Primary Duties
:
- In consultation with administrative personnel, TV staff, and faculty, develop a strategic plan and objectives with an action plan to accomplish stated objectives.
- Advises administration and the Community Advisory Board (CAB) on communications matters affecting public and educational broadcasting; participates in and provides leadership to national and regional professional organizations.
- Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives; oversees recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of staff.
- Develops and monitors annual budgets and ensures compliance with university, state and federal requirements.
- Coordinates and cooperates with appropriate departments of the university, public schools, and other agencies in the development of programs and consults with respective agencies on matters relative to the mission of instructional and public television.
- Implement policies and procedures for the station.
- Approve program schedules and evaluation of potential programs for the station.
- Develop proposals to expand and improve the broadcasting activities.
- Prepare grant proposals including ones for submission to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Public Telecommunications Facilities Program, corporations, and foundations.
- Coordinate student internships and lab activities with academic departments.
- Supervise fundraising and promotional activities including underwriting and capital solicitation activities.
- Represent RSU Television before the public, donors, government entities, and public broadcasting organizations.
- Assure compliance with all FCC regulations and legislation applicable to RSU TV.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, broadcasting or related degree required;
- Minimum of 5 years management experience in television broadcasting with increasing levels of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
:
- Prior public television station management experience including budget preparation and fiscal management;
- Exceptional computer skills preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
:
- Must have excellent knowledge of FCC, FAA, and CPB regulations and standards related to public education television.
- Must be familiar with technical requirements, standards and regulations related to digital conversion.
- Must be knowledgeable of CPB and PTFP contracts and grant programs.
- Knowledge of regulatory policy as it applies to the broadcasting industry, including migration strategies from ATSC-1 to ATSC-3 broadcast formats.
- Knowledge and understanding of the mission and goals of educational and public television broadcasting.

Supervision Given to
: KRSC staff.
Hours
: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Mon-Fri.; position may require evening and weekends periodically
