Braun Construction is a civil site work contractor in Wilsonville, Oregon. We perform primarily public works projects in and around the Portland Metropolitan area. We are looking for a hard working Heavy Equipment Operator/Laborer that likes to work outside and takes pride in a job completed safely and efficiently. We a mix of private and prevailing wages.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required to Perform Essential Functions:

The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Summary: Equipment Operator is responsible for operating excavator, loader, skid steer and backhoe. Dig trenches for utility installation and repair. Preparation of road for final paving. Placement of shoring and overall trench safety. Top-hand duties include directing heavy equipment operators via hand signals and verbal communication, cutting pipe sections to length with demo saw, checking line and grade for pipe install, rigging, interpreting design drawings, and other general labor associated with utility projects. Applicant shall have valid driver's license and the ability to drive 5-yard dump truck, and company tool truck and trailer within tight construction zones.

  • Coordinate with job site manager to configure pipe system layout for excavation.
  • Self motivated team player with a positive attitude.
  • Familiar with lasers and grades.
  • Excavation depth, alignment, and shielding/shoring.
  • Base rock grade and compaction for pipe and structures.
  • Installation of pipes and structures on line and grade.
  • Placement and compaction of pipe zone materials to ensure a quality finished product.
  • Ability to frequently kneel, squat, bend, and stoop, twist, and reach overhead with repetitive motions.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage time well and to multitask.
  • Quality and cleanliness of installations.
  • Must have valid insurable license & be able to drive a truck and trailer, no CDL required.
  • Ability to pass drug test and driver's license background check.
  • Reliable transportation to drive to jobsite or drive company vehicle.

Technical Knowledge:

Ability to perform a variety of duties that may often change and work within standards of accuracy.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand or walk for long periods; use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighting up to 60 pounds. Climb up and down on equipment & ladder, scaffolds, truck & trailers, steep grades, and carry tools and equipment. Stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Ability to see well and distinguish between back up alarms, voices, and other normal sounds consistent with construction job sites.

Environmental Adaptability:

Work inside and outside in all weather conditions, and various locations. Hard hat, hearing, and eye protection provided and required.

Training and Experience:

Minimum 3 years verifiable experience.

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)

Willingness to travel:

  • 25% (Preferred)
