Summary: This position installs and repairs heating and refrigeration systems according to plans, blueprints, sketches, work requests, written and verbal directions using knowledge of refrigeration, structural layout, and function and design of component. The HVAC employee is expected to instruct fellow employees assigned to assist them. The employee must furnish their own hand tools common to the major craft assignment. The person in this position is expected to approach assigned work in a professional manner, working toward the common goal of team, pride in service delivery, and support to sites and fellow workers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Demonstrated proficiency in two or more and competent in at least one additional craft area listed below. The heating/air conditioning craft area includes but is not limited to:

  • Pipe fitting
  • Heating boilers
  • Circulation pumps
  • Pneumatic controls
  • Steam heating systems
  • Hot water heating systems
  • Electric heating systems
  • Heat pump systems
  • Fire box refractory
  • HVAC fans and blowers
  • LP & propane gas systems
  • Valves and regulators
  • Kitchen refrigeration equipment (Freezers and Refrigerators)

Maintains, repairs, rebuilds, diagnoses, corrects malfunctions and assembles automotive equipment. Includes minor body work and painting. Performs roadside automotive repairs, welding, burning and brazing as necessary and performs other duties of this position as directed.

Min Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years prior experience in a similar position with related responsibilities
  • All certificates, licenses, endorsements and permits as required for this position by state and local authorities
